Business Coaching Profile: Jeff Stockham

By Good Neighbor Pharmacy

Jeff Stockham has spent more than 35 years in drug retail, building a career grounded in operations and customer relationships. Today, he brings that experience to Cencora in his role with Good Neighbor Pharmacy as a business coach focused on supporting independent pharmacies as they navigate a rapidly evolving business environment.

“I’m really passionate about getting out in the field, and visiting my customers, building that relationship, and then seeing what I can do to help them really be a conduit to help them get to where they need to go.”

- Jeff Stockham, Business Coach, Good Neighbor Pharmacy

Stockham’s path to business coaching was shaped by a long career in store management. After college, he worked for Osco Drug for five years, followed by 22 years at Walgreens. Throughout that time, he developed expertise in retail operations and multi-site leadership, including a later-career role as a community leader overseeing five stores and helping strengthen local community relationships.

“My background lies in drug retail,” Stockham said. “All of my experiences were store management for 35 years or more in drug retail and retail.”

That foundation prepared him well for a role centered on helping pharmacy owners strengthen performance, improve operations, and solve business challenges. It also gave him firsthand insight into the demands front-line teams face every day.

When Stockham made the transition into business coaching in January 2020, he was looking for an opportunity to get back to the kind of work he found most meaningful: coaching people, building relationships, and helping businesses grow.

Since joining Good Neighbor Pharmacy, Stockham has spent six years working closely with independent pharmacy owners, first virtually during the COVID-19 pandemic and then in person once field visits resumed. What continues to energize him is the opportunity to spend time with customers face to face, understand their businesses, and build trust over time.

“It’s definitely customer interactions and meeting new people,” Stockham said. “I’m big about building the relationship and really building that trust.”

That people's first mindset remains central to how he approaches business coaching today. Stockham helps Good Neighbor Pharmacy owners strengthen their operations, identify new growth opportunities, and better manage financial and workflow pressures. His own experience in high-volume retail environments gives him practical credibility with customers and team members alike.

He also values the perspective he has gained on the business side of pharmacy. While his earlier roles focused on retail management, his work with independent pharmacies has deepened his understanding of reimbursement pressures, profitability challenges, and the many factors that influence long-term sustainability.

“I’m really passionate about getting out in the field, and visiting my customers, building that relationship, and then seeing what I can do to help them get to where they need to go,” he said.

For Stockham, success is measured not only in operational improvements, but also in the confidence and stability pharmacy owners gain along the way. Helping customers reduce stress, feel more in control of their businesses, and create more time for life outside the pharmacy is a meaningful part of the work.

As independent pharmacies continue to face change across the healthcare landscape, business coaching partners like Stockham play an important role in helping them adapt and move forward with confidence.
