Business Coaching Profile: Molly Gagne
By Good Neighbor Pharmacy
In the later chapters of her retail career, Molly served as a district leader/emerging leader at CVS Pharmacy. In that role, she helped store teams clarify priorities, grow capability, and deliver results. “I held the role of being the district leader/emerging leader… supporting them reach goals and just be more well-rounded,” she explained.
While she built her career in big-box environments, Molly’s passion has always been rooted in helping people and strengthening businesses. That desire for more direct, local impact helped Molly into her current role as a business coach with Good Neighbor Pharmacy at Cencora since October 2023.
Importantly, Molly’s expertise isn’t dispensing — it’s running the business around pharmacy. “I’m not a pharmacist, so my expertise is running the business, managing people, inventory, merchandising, and gaining gross margin in other ways,” she said. That perspective is often exactly what owners need, especially in a challenging climate shaped by reimbursement pressure and rapidly shifting market expectations.
Molly also brings a personal appreciation for small business resilience. She grew up watching her parents operate a family-owned hardware store and learned firsthand what it takes to stay relevant. “I watched my parents struggle and have to diversify their business to stay relevant. It’s the same in the pharmacy world today,” she said.
As part of the business coaching team, Molly works closely with pharmacy owners to set goals, build sustainable playbooks, and follow through. She notes that coaching touchpoints can vary by customer — some connect monthly, others every other month — but the goal is consistent: practical support that moves the business forward. “I want to be there to support the pharmacy owners so they can reach their goals,” she said.
For Molly, the most energizing part of the work is watching owners regain confidence and momentum. “Business in an independent pharmacy is hard. They feel defeated at times. But when they do succeed, and they see something great out of it, that to me is what drives me as a human being.”
